New research on ecosystem restoration
The BiodivERsA network, together with the Joint Programming Initiative on Water, have announced a new joint call for research on the following topic: “Conservation and restoration of degraded ecosystems and their biodiversity, including a focus on aquatic systems”. While this call includes a focus on aquatic systems, all environments are eligible. It will cover the following three non-exclusive themes:
Studying the biological and biophysical processes at stake for conservation/restoration, and their interactions
- Assessing trade-offs and synergies between targets, benefits and policies for conservation and restoration
- Knowledge for improving the effectiveness and upscaling of conservation and restoration actions
At this stage, twenty-eight countries, including The Netherlands, have expressed a preliminary interest to participate with a total amount of over EUR 18 million. Expected call launch is October 5th, with a pre-proposal closing date on December 7th. Closing date for full proposals depends on the amount of pre-proposal submissions, but the earliest date communicated on the website is March 14th 2021.
More information is available on the BiodivERsA website.
